I was made to be a musician for the Lord. I believe peoples’ hearts are moved by music in a way that words alone cannot do. I have heard it said that music opens our spirits to receive. I have personally found this to be true, and that is why I have committed myself to becoming a musician for the Lord, making music out of a place of listening to His heart that communicates what I hear Him saying in a way that gives unction to the words being sung.

The Lord has really rocked me in the past 24 hours. I am going to be trying to do the Fire in the Night internship at IHOP-KC.

I moved back to IHOP KC in December of 2010 to join the Night Watch with the intention of ultimately becoming full time Night Watch staff and a musician on the Night Watch, ministering before the Lord between the hours of midnight to 6 am as well as serving the church through Night and Day prayer as an “Intercessory Missionary.” In order to do this I must attend the Fire in the Night internship to get training in the core values, as well as teaching like that of a Bible School on subjects such as intimacy with the Lord, eschatology, different books of the Bible, etc.

I ask you to prayerfully consider partnering with me in this journey. Already as I have been living here for 6 months I have had the opportunity to play on worship teams at an inner-city prayer room, as well as prayer houses in other cities, and several other venues. The Lord has on many occasions showed up in powerful ways and we have seen people delivered in the midst of our worship and intercession sets. People have come to know the Lord and given their lives to Him in the midst of the songs we were singing, with music that moved their hearts and words that showed them who He is.

I have included a song that I wrote and was graciously allowed to record in the studio for download. It is completely free of charge! If you feel moved, at the end of the post I have included a link for you to donate toward my expenses for attending Fire in the Night. Please consider doing this: every penny counts! Jesus looked at the poor widow’s small donation and said it was big because she gave from what she had, even in her need. Every bit will definitely help immensely!

I would optimally like to get in to the July 6th internship which would have me completing my 6 months on December 16 – a significant date because it marks both my 24th birthday as well as my 1 year anniversary of being back in Kansas City. If that is not feasible I would be doing the next internship, as soon as the funds come in and the door opens.

The cost is roughly $2500 for 3 months, and there’s two 3-month tracks. This cost includes housing, meals, classes, books, transportation to events – pretty much everything I will need for 6 months. I also need a little bit of money for gasoline, laundry, etc. as well as about $500 per month in support to cover some student loan expenses while in the internship.

I saw that some people had been directed to my page looking for the chords to this song. It’s relatively easy so I thought I’d let you know how to play it. I’m gonna apologize in advance right here, the formatting of this blog doesn’t let my chords line up perfectly where they should. Listen to the song for when to change chords. Sorry!

The basic chord layout for this song in whatever key you’re in seems to be 6, 7, 8, 6, 5, 4.

For example, the easiest fingering for it would be

That chord progression repeats the entire time,

For the rest of the song the power comes from hearing Holy Spirit and what He is speaking to the room. Listen to what He is saying to the room at that time, I promise it will move your heart so much more than just repeating word for word what is on the CD.

You can use a capo, or change the chords, I’ve heard it done in many different keys at IHOP. Just do the 6, 7, 8, 6, 5, 4 chords.

Hey all, I decided to make this video on how to play the bass intro to You Wont Relent on a 4-stringer. There seems to be a good number of how-to’s for this song on youtube, but I was looking through them and was getting annoyed that there was a part or two that people seemed to get consistently wrong – primarily, during the first part of the bass part, they were exactly mimicking the vocal line, but the bass part actually deviates from the vocal line in parts. . . and then the last chord, some people do as one note. And I’m almost positive it’s a chord.

Correct me if I’m wrong, please! But here is my way of playing it on a 4-string.

Ok. Ever since this happened, for some reason I’ve been getting a good number of hits to this blog because people are looking for a particular funny from the prayer room earlier this week. I’ve decided to go to the webstream and snag out the clip people seem to be searching for.
